Creative agency promotes new MD from within

Aberdeen creative agency Hampton  has promoted Morven Mackenzie to managing director.

Mackenzie, previously client services director, takes over from Skerry Read, who acquired the business in 2017 and who will now become chairman.

The move comes after a period of growth for the 20-strong agency, which offers services including brand development, design and digital marketing.

Scott Hunter, one of Hampton’s founding members, remains as creative director, while Ewan Lyle will continue to head up the company’s digital team.

Mackenzie has more than 24 years’ experience as both a journalist and a PR consultant and prior to joining Hampton in 2017, she ran her own full-service communications agency.

Read said: “The past two years have proven to be incredibly exciting for us as we’ve added to our service offering, grown our team and strengthened our client base throughout Scotland and beyond.

“Having seen Hampton through this period, it’s now the right time to pass the reigns over to Morven. She is a highly experienced communications professional and has the ideal track record for this leadership role.”

Mackenzie said: “Skerry put in place an ambitious growth strategy for the business when she took it over two years ago and I look forward to building upon the great work already undertaken.

“We have such a talented and highly skilled team of specialists, and that, along with our great and diverse client base and an ever-changing industry, will make for a really exciting future.”

Originally from Orkney, Ms Mackenzie has Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in European Business Studies with Languages and has previously worked in agencies in London and Aberdeen.
