Craig David fangirls over Leonardo Di Caprio hitting up his TS5 house party in Miami… even if he didn’t quite get to introduce himself

Craig David recalls the time Leonardo Di Caprio turned up to one of his house parties

Craig David isn’t short of a few celebrity fans and it turns out he had Hollywood royalty stopping by his home in Miami when he used to throw his TS5 house parties.

Back in the early days of TS5 when Craig was still putting together the genius he has now created on those decks, he would throw pre-parties at his home before heading out clubbing and they came with an A-list guestlist.

So much so, that one night Leonardo Di Caprio turned up. Yup, the one and only LDC, as Brad Pitt likes to call him.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Craig explained that he was sure he spotted Leo in the crowd, but ‘didn’t think too much of it’ at first.

It wasn’t until the next day when a friend told him that it had been the Oscar-winning actor casually chilling out in his pad, listening to him play, that Craig started to regret playing it so cool.

Dishing all about his parties, he told us: ‘It was proper house parties, people would being their friends and friends of friends. I remember one night DJ’ing, I was playing some tunes and I saw from afar someone that looked like Leo.

‘I was like, “Wow, that looks like Leonardi Di Caprio,” but I didn’t think too much of it. I wanted people to feel like they were at a house party and not feel like everyone would come running up to them.

‘So, it wasn’t until the next day when someone was like, “Oh, you know that was Leonardo Di Caprio in your house,” that I was like, “Nooo.”‘

Yup, Craig is now kicking himself that he didn’t go over and say hello.

‘Of all the people I would have liked to have gone up to, shook his hand and been like, “Man, big fan,” it would have been him,’ Craig admitted.

‘He’s one of the best actors in the world. Very honoured that he came through and I hope he had a good time.’

Leonardo Di Caprio, in your home. No biggie at all.

Since then, Craig has burst back onto the music scene, with 2020 marking his 20th anniversary in the biz.

He signed a new record deal in 2016, performed at Glastonbury two years running – hitting the famous Pyramid stage for his second year in 2017 – and saw himself go viral, thanks to the birth of social media and his mixes.

During one appearance on Radio 1Xtra Craig mixed his hit track Fill Me In with Justin Bieber’s Where Are You Now and he says by the end of the show, his phone was blowing up from fans and celebrities alike.

‘It was crazy! Justin Beiber was messaging, Scooter Braun was hitting me up, Diplo was saying about it and Skrillex, too,’ Craig said.

The 7 Days singer was supposed to be headlining his own UK arena tour in 2020, that was due to kick off this month, but it’s now been pushed back a year until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans, therefore, will be waiting a little longer to see Craig performing his legendary hits over the years, alongside his now famous TS5 set, which he says always helps him to realise how far he’s come in the last two decades.

Speaking about how much he enjoys performing on stage, Craig said of his DJ set: ‘Especially the TS5 element because it always reminds me of when I had 100 people in my home and then the next minute it’s 100,000 people going crazy.

‘This was 100 people in my home in Miami when I was throwing a house party. To see how far it’s come and to see people embracing it, it’s like wow. I wouldn’t change it for the world.’

Craig David’s ‘Hold That Thought’ UK arena tour begins in April 2021. Full dates and tickets are available via the official Craig David website.
