Courtney Stodden has candidly spoken about the time she tried to commit suicide.

The Celebrity Big Brother star revealed that she tried to take her own life about a year ago, after she and ex-husband Doug Hutchison decided to get divorced.

Less than 12 months after their split, Courtney, who has struggled with depression, said things ‘all got too much’ and she ‘couldn’t see a way out’ from the pain she was feeling.

Speaking to Radio Online, Courtney said: ‘I attempted to commit suicide about a year ago. It was just a point where I didn’t see a way out of all of the pain and grief and craziness and insanity of my life.

‘Things happen behind closed doors. I just feel like it all got too much for me. I decided in a really drunken state that this was the best option.’

Courtney continued: ‘By the grace of God, it didn’t work. I still can’t believe that I did that…. I’ve lost a lot and I’ve gained a lot. I’ve been hospitalised for multiple panic attacks.

‘Life is worth living. No matter what. No matter what other people have done to you.’

Courtney opened up just days after revealing she and Doug are now officially divorced, after finally coming to an agreement in their divorce proceedings.

TMZ reports that the pair have filed new documents that are awaiting the judge to sign off. It’s said Doug is taking the couple’s dog, a Greyhound called Dourtney, a Jeep Wrangler and his retirement money, while Courtney is keeping the couple’s furniture and appliances and they’re splitting up their bank accounts.

It comes two years after the exes first announced their split, but filing for divorce took a little longer than expected as Courtney admitted to accidentally filling out the paperwork incorrectly numerous times.

‘This is my first divorce so I was filling out the paperwork all wrong for two years. That entire process just ripped my soul out. And his too. We still have a lot of love for each other,’ she told Fox News in June.

Courtney, now 25, famously first married Doug when she was 16 years old and the Green Mile actor was 50.

Things weren’t plain sailing throughout their six year marriage, however, and Doug and Courtney split briefly for nine months in 2013. They broke up once again in 2016 after Courtney suffered a miscarriage.

In 2017, Courtney confirmed she and Doug had legally separated and said: ‘We are legally separated … it’s only been, like, two and a half months. I’m also trying to take things slow because I love him and it’s really hard on him… it’s extremely sensitive.’
