Prepare for a much-needed feel-good story. For this is the story of two childhood sweethearts who met at five years old and have been together for 18 years.

Alexandra, 36, and Stewart Watts, 35, from Worcester, West Midlands had a playful rivalry when their parents, who were pals, would meet up for play dates in the 1980s.

But by the time they were 17, the rivalry had turned to romance and the pair haven’t stopped dating since.

Six years later, they got married and gave birth to son Roma-Alexande in July 2013.

Ten years on from when they first walked down the aisle, the couple renewed their vows with a second wedding last month after their first was a small affair and Alex’s dad didn’t even attend.

And prepare for the feels – the sweet couple has pledged to re-do the wedding each decade they’re together.

They’d grown up together but when Stewart’s older brother tragically passed away aged 15, and Alex’s family moved to Worcester, the pair lost touch for eight years.

But fate bought them back together at a family party in 2001.

Rekindling their relationship as 17-year-old teenagers, Stewart gave Alex a promise ring, and they secretly vowed they would one day marry each other.

The pair choose not to go to university to stay close, instead travelling around Thailand together and even living in Tenerife for three seasons.

But aged 21, Stewart decided to take the plunge and got down on one knee surrounded by all their friends – with the couple tying the knot properly just two years later in a civil ceremony.

Model Alex said: ‘When we met up again at a family gathering aged 17, I saw he had blossomed and wasn’t the annoying little boy that he used to be.

‘It was pretty immediate, and it was obvious he knew what he wanted – he was confident and I liked that so we ended up dating.’

‘I think because I was there for him through the death of his brother and we have been through so much with our families, we are each other’s rock.

‘He’s the funniest person I’ll ever meet.’

When the couple married for a second time, mum-of-one Alex got her dream wedding after splashing out more than £9,000 on a ‘fairytale’ day with a new white dress, surrounded by 100 of their friends and family.

Marking the day now as parents, Stewart even had son Roma, six, as his best man who handed over the rings and gave a speech for his loved up mum and dad.

They were especially touched to have their only child at the wedding after conceiving through IFV.

‘When I fell naturally pregnant it felt like a miracle,’ added Alex.

‘To have Roma with us this time and have my dad walk me down the aisle made it the most special day because my dad never came to my first wedding.

‘It was the fairy tale wedding I’d always dreamed of.’

After spending their lives together to date, Stewart said Alex has made him into the man he is today.

He said: ‘I knew from a young age that I was going to marry Alex. I couldn’t think of not having her in my life now, she’s made the man I am today.’
