Couple drove to Dartmoor to take part in ‘coldest ever sex’

The Covid lockdown and sub-zero temperatures did not stop one couple from getting their kicks just days before Valentine’s Day.

The pair were caught having sex in a car on Dartmoor at 2am on the coldest night for 26 years.

Despite it being -3C outside, the couple – thought to be two women – had driven from their separate homes in Plymouth to get together under the stars in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Unsurprisingly, officers who discovered them at it were not impressed and sent them home.

Tavistock Police tweeted at 2.17am that such behaviour was in breach of a number of Covid rules.

They said: ‘Fornicating under the stars, on the moors, may seem like this years latest romcom, but it is not an essential journey and certainly breaks social distancing guidance.

‘Please continue to abide by Covid-19 legislation to help prevent the spread of Covid.’

Locals said the car park near Yelverton is a known dogging spot and police have taken to regularly patrolling the area, looking for people out breaking the rules.

One told MailOnline: ‘The police regularly patrol car parks and other remote spots around Dartmoor because they know that more often than not doggers will be out breaking the rules.

‘And that is what happened last night apparently, the officers wandered over to the car with the windows steamed up and caught the women at it. They were told in no uncertain terms to go home which they did straight away.’

It’s now thought the women could face a fine for breaching the lockdown.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘During a routine patrol, officers from the Tavistock Neighbourhood Team discovered two people in-breach of social distancing regulations, in a car at a remote location near Yelverton, West Dartmoor, late on Wednesday 10 February.

‘The officers spoke to the individuals who were subsequently instructed to return to their respective home addresses; both were reported for breaching COVID-19 regulations.’

Several people replied to the police’s tweet including some congratulating the couple for braving the cold.

One wrote: ‘In this weather? Makes you proud to be British.’ But for others it was a degree to far. Another person said: ‘It’s a bit cold for that.’
