Could Taylor Swift headline Glastonbury in 2020? Fans speculate over festival appearance as singer reveals tour dates

Taylor Swift’s fans are convinced that she could perform at Glastonbury Festival in 2020 after the singer announced dates for her Lover tour.

Swift, 29, unveiled the tour schedule for the latest album this afternoon, revealing that she will perform at a string of European festivals next summer.

“The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, + SUMMER,” she wrote on Twitter alongside the announcement. “I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals.”

Her post also confirmed that “additional U.K. and international dates and festivals will be announced soon.”

Swift will perform in Oslo on June 26, 2020, and at Roskilde Festival in Denmark on July 1, 2020.

Next year’s Glastonbury, which will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the iconic festival, will run from June 24, 2020 to June 28, 2020.

Dedicated fans quickly noted that Swift could be available to perform at the event on either June 27 or June 28 and immediately began to speculate about a potential headline slot.

“Glastonbury is on 24th-28th June,” one Twitter user wrote. “Taylor Swift has a gap from 27-30th June and says she wants to play festivals. I seriously wonder if she is booked for the Sunday.”

Another agreed, commenting: “Following this Lover tour announcement I feel like there is an actual genuine chance Taylor Swift may play Glastonbury, therefore making All My Dreams Come True.”

“I call it now Taylor will be at Glastonbury,” a third predicted. “This is it the moment Ive [sic] been waiting for.”

Standard Online has contacted representatives for Swift and for Glastonbury Festival for further comment.

Stormzy was announced as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2019 in November 2018, with the full festival line-up then confirmed in March.

Tickets for next year’s festival will go on sale in October.
