Both new and existing members of the Costa Coffee Club mobile app can get the freebie.

The offer will run until the end of July with customers automatically given 300 points to spend, worth £3.

But if you refer a friend, you both get an extra 200 points, taking your total up to 500 points, worth £5.

Coffee lovers can then spend their points on any hot drink including an Americano, Cappuccino, or a Flat White.

Prices will vary depending on location, but most large drinks are typically under £3.

For example, a “Massimo” Cappuccino or Latte will cost around £2.65, while a Flat White, which only comes in “Primo”, comes to roughly £2.40.

The points can also be redeemed against any food purchase.

How do I download the Costa Coffee Club mobile app?

COSTA Coffee is only giving away free drinks and food to people who sign up to its app.

Thankfully, its app is completely free to sign up to – although you must complete your registration to get the offer.

This will involve signing up with your personal details, such as your name, and email address.

You can download the Costa Coffee Club app on the App Store or Google Play.

Costa says the points will remain on any account for 12 months, and they can be spent in store or at any drive-thru.

Usually, you earn five points on the app for every £1 you spend.

Once you have earned 200 points, worth £2, you can redeem them in store for a free coffee or snack.

The freebie comes as Costa prepares to reopen 2,000 of its stores by the end of July.

The cafe chain has been reopening its branches in batches after temporarily closing all of its stores on March 23 due to coronavirus.

But Costa has been gradually reopening stores since April 24 for takeaway, drive-thru or home delivery via Uber Eats.

If you’re planning a visit, you should be aware that there’s currently a limited food range available to prevent food waste.

The menu includes baps, sandwiches and sweet treats – you can see the full range in the box below.

Costa has yet to update fans on when they can eat-in, after the government confirmed it was easing lockdown rules for restaurants, but we’ve asked the coffee chain for more information.

Previously, the coffee chain gave away hot drinks worth at least £2.30 from its self-service touch-screen “Express” machines.

Neil Lake, managing director of Costa Coffee UK&I, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our customers as we begin to re-open our stores.

“As we near our next key milestone of 2000+ store re-openings by the end of July, we’re delighted to treat Costa Coffee fans to a handcrafted drink, on us.

“To ensure both our customers and team members are safe we have introduced some new measures across our estate, while also maintaining the warm environment that we know they have been missing.”
