Due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus, SNK Corporation has postponed multiple esports events for its games.

The SNK World Championship JAPAN TOUR FINAL, which was to take place on Feb. 29 – March 1, as well as the SNK World Championship GRAND Final (March 28-29), have been postponed until further notice. These events were to have concluded a tournament circuit for Samurai Showdown and The King of Fighters XIV which began in October 2019.

We understand that many people involved with this event, including the many fans out there feel let down,” read a statement from SNK. “It is truly an unfortunate thing to happen, but we wish for your understanding and patience as we wait for this virus to clear up.”

While China’s esports industry has seen the greatest impact, with multiple leagues either moved online or yet to kick off their 2020 seasons, the spread of the virus has delayed or canceled multiple events throughout the world. Earlier this week, the Overwatch League announced the cancellation of the first homestand to be held in Seoul, South Korea, which would have taken place next month.
