The coronavirus has killed more than 36,000 people since November while infecting nearly 800,000 people globally. The virus appeared without warning in China’s Hubei province, prompting many to question its origin.
One person said on Twitter: “#China owes billions to all the affected countries.
“People eating disease infested bats and is spread across the world.
“And please believe this was purposely done! #BioWeapon #coronavirus #COVID19 @realDonaldTrump”
Another person said: “It is true. It will be unimaginable.
“The #coronavirus bioweapon is mostly an economic weapon designed to bring mark of the beast IMO.”s
A third person also said: “Don’t discount likely possibility release of the Coronavirus from WuHan Bioweapon facility was purposeful.
“No more rioting in HK and 60 Chinese cities is there?”
There is, however, no evidence to suggest the coronavirus is a biblical plague of prophecy.
Christian writer Michael Brown from The Stream said: “What is clear to me is that we should not view the coronavirus as a prophesied, end-time plague.
“Instead, we should view it in the same way we have viewed many other epidemics and pandemics in world history.
“They are tragic reminders of the broken state of our world and of the frailty of our race.”
