Coronation Street's Kym Marsh becomes grandmother as daughter Emilie Cunliffe gives birth

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has become a grandmother – or “Loli” – after daughter Emilie Cunliffe gave birth to a baby boy.

The 42-year-old took to Instagram today to reveal that her makeup artist daughter had given birth last night.

In a touching post, Kym wrote: “Last night was a night I will never forget. I became a ‘Loli’ for the first time.

“My beautiful daughter was an absolute warrior and her partner and I were the best birthing team we could be.

“I was so honoured to have been a part of bringing him into the world. My beautiful grandson, I love you, I will always love you and I promise to help guide you through life as best I can.

“Welcome to the world ‘Baby Hoz’, name to follow.”

Meanwhile, Emilie wrote: “Welcome to the world my precious baby boy.

“You have filled a space in my heart that I never even knew was there, and you’ve managed to take over the hole of it.

“I’ve never felt a love like it. My life is complete, thanks to you.”

Emilie’s boyfriend Mikey Hoz revealed on his own Instagram that the tot was born at 10.20pm on May 3, weighing 7lbs 2oz.

Kym previously explained that she wouldn’t be called grandma and instead found “Loli” on a website which provided alternative names.

She said on This Morning: “I’m really excited about being a grandparent but there’s no way I’m being a grandma, or granny, nanny or any of those things.”

Kym’s already had a big year after announcing her exit from ITV soap Coronation Street in February.

She had been on the soap for 13 years in the role of Michelle Connor and admitted it was “an incredibly difficult decision” to leave.

The former Hear’Say singer added to The Sun: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.”

However, she did say Michelle Connor would be back, suggesting her exit wouldn’t be permanent.

Coronation Street continues Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
