Coronation Street's Katie McGlynn showcases sculpted physique after one stone weight loss


Katie McGlynn looks sensational after revealing her one stone weight loss since her exit from Coronation Street in October last year.

In recent months, the 26-year-old actress has spoken candidly about her struggle with comfort eating during her time on show, revealing a busy filming schedule left her little time to train or cook healthy meals at home.

Katie has dropped one dress size since starting a 12-week transformation challenge at Ultimate Performance Fitness in Manchester and admitted to ‘finally feeling herself again’.

Katie said:  ‘I am so happy with my overall physical and mental well being after this transformation. I’ve lost a dress size, I’ve gained more muscle, I’m getting stronger in the gym. I feel like myself again, finally. I feel like back-to-normal Katie.’

With the help of an elite fitness trainer, Katie’s training focused on superset workouts, prioritising compound exercises and bigger muscle groups to get the maximum results. 

Outside of the gym, Katie focused on increasing her activity levels, hitting 12,000-15,000 steps per day while maintaining a simple diet of fibre-rich vegetables and healthy fats.

She said: ‘Before the transformation, I don’t want to say I was depressed, but I did feel very down about my weight, mentally and physically I was tired. I didn’t feel like myself whatsoever.

The star added: ‘I felt sluggish. I felt really dowdy and frumpy, whereas now I just feel more myself again. I’ve got more energy, I’ve got a lot more confidence in general’

Katie admitted to confiding in her trainer Olivia about her emotional and physical state at the time and said it was her who helped her through all the ‘obstacles’. 

She said:  ‘As an actor, it can be a stressful life. It’s really good, but I felt really emotionally drained after my Corrie scenes. I had not realised how it had affected me emotionally. Olivia really helped me through that’. 

Since starting the challenge, Katie admits she has learned so much and insists she ‘wont go back to her old habits’, and while ‘life is about balance’ she is ‘ definitely going to be carrying on with her training and nutrition.

Speaking candidly to Closer Magazine earlier this month, the actress revealed she ‘was usually between a size 8-10 when ordering clothes, but was creeping up to a size 12.  

It was only when she finished her final scenes on the ITV soap, Katie enrolled in the 12-week course with the Ultimate Performance Gym to get back into shape and finally decided to to prioritise her health and fitness.

She also enthused she’s back to her best following a brief illness over the festive period, and said she’s feeling ‘more confident than ever’ after losing a stone.

Katie played troubled character Sinead from 2013 to 2019, and admitted she’s always felt attached to the character and even kept some of her clothes from the show.

She described the process of leaving the show and watching it back to be like ‘grieving’ and eventually found solace in speaking to a counsellor.

The thespian recently revealed she’s flown to Hollywood to further her acting career after bowing out of the soap world.

Katie is set to travel to Los Angeles for pilot season and admitted she has already had many auditions since leaving Corrie, including one for a popular Netflix series.

She told the Daily Star: ‘It’s going to be an exciting year. I’ve already had so many wonderful auditions. One was for a big Netflix show, which would be an amazing opportunity. But I can’t say too much more.

‘I’m also going to LA. I’ve never been before, but I can do a really good American accent.’

The TV star added that if her plans for a Hollywood acting career work out, it would be a dream come true.
