She said: “I’m really grateful for the ending Corrie have given me because it’s a positive one rather than grief and sadness, which Kate’s felt a lot of.”

Viewers were heartbroken earlier this year when Kate’s fiance Rana Habeeb was killed on their wedding day with the pair just managing to say their vows before Rana slipped away in the factory collapse ruins.

And asked about what secrets she was keeping about her final storyline, she added: “Only my ending, but it’s not on until September time so stay tuned.”

Of her decision to leave, Faye revealed she’s desperate to go back to her roots in musical theatre for a while.

She said: “It’s the end of my contract. It’s coming to an end.

“I want to go out on a high and we’ve just done the Kana storyline and I feel for my character that challenge would be really difficult to match.

“I’ve loved everything, well I mean I’ve had a lot of storylines to be fair, I’ve loved my four years.

“I’m really grateful to Corrie to leave it open ended because it means I could come back but I might go on to do more television. Who knows if I could go back to my old roots of theatre.

“I miss live musical theatre, I miss singing, I miss dancing. I really am excited about what could come next.”

Fans were horrified recently when Bhavna Limbachia, who plays Rana, returned for a cameo as her ghost to haunt Carla Connor.

But while fans were terrified by the sight of ghostly Rana, Faye was thrilled to get to spend the day with her friend.

“We had a day together,” she said.

“I loved spending the day with Bhavna in her red coat, the Hayley coat walking around the studios.

“I’m really excited for Bhavna as well for the same reasons, it was a natural progression for her and it made sense that the characters couldn’t be together so we chose the ending. And this what is happening, whatever’s next for her I wish her all the love and luck.”
