Coronation Street’s David Platt is set to face further heartbreak during the coming week as Shona Ramsey’s breathing tubes are to be removed, which will risk her life.
Shona, who is played by Julia Goulding was one of three people who were shot during the dramatic Christmas Day siege.
David Platt’s [Jack P Shepherd] wife, was rushed to hospital and initially appeared to be fine, she has since fallen into a coma and doctors fear that she may have suffered brain damage and may never wake up.
January 6th will see David’s brother, Nick, persuade David to let Shona’s friends visit her in hospital fearing they may never see her again.
However, David is left stunned when doctors say they want to remove Shona’s breathing aids and he attempts to refuse.
David reluctantly agrees, allowing medics to remove the tubes. Will Shona be able to breathe alone, or could David be forced to face another death in his family?
Gail Platt’s son is set for more heartbreak as he finds out the outcome of his rape ordeal.
Lawyer Imran calls David at the hospital and sadly breaks the news to David regarding the verdict.
It comes after David took to the stand in court and the traumatic memories started to flood back from the time he was sexually assaulted.
Speaking about his ordeal, which saw Josh Tucker rape the hairdresser, David said: “He worked on the street where I live and I signed up for this charity boxing event he organised. We became good mates.
“We had a laugh. And my older brother had moved away from the area so I guess I needed a mate.”
David went on to say: “He worked on the street, similar sort of age, seems natural for us to knock about. But, I had no idea he was grooming me.”
Opening up about the night he was raped, the dad-of-two said: “I can’t really tell you a lot because I don’t remember it at all..
“It seemed like any other night, but it wasn’t as he spiked my drink and I don’t remember a lot after that. It’s a bit of a blur. Thank god.”
David was then prompted about what he remembered afterwards, which saw him reply: “Waking up in his bed after he raped me.”
Coronation Street airs tonight at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV
