Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne looks unrecognisable in Emmerdale 'rent-boy' throwback

Rob Mallard may be better known as Coronation Street ‘s Daniel Osbourne, but he’d cut his teeth in the soap world years before.

The 27-year-old starred as Connor Jenson in Emmerdale in September 2015, stirring up trouble in the Yorkshire dales.

In an unearthed throwback shot, Rob can be seen with his face bruised and bloodied on the film set.

Taken during a particularly violent scene in Emmerdale, he jokingly captioned the shot: “Throwback to two years ago… before makeup obviously.”

Underneath, fans weighed in on the gruesome transformation, begging him to return to the show.

One said: “How can you still be this attractive looking like that? Ridiculous.”

And a second added: “Oh jeez that was a shock I thought you’d really been hurt!”

Rent-boy Connor was hired by Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) to lure his father-in-law Lawrence White (John Bowe) to bed.

Connor tried to seduce Lawrence in shock scenes

Painting his face with fake wounds, he convinced Lawrence to take him into his home to aid his recovery.

But when Connor made a move on Robert’s estranged father-in-law, he was rejected and turned angry.

In his final scenes, Connor beat Lawrence to a pulp before robbing his belongings and fleeing for good.

Rob’s performance on Corrie earned him an award at the Royal Television Society Awards last week

A few years later, and Rob is one of the key characters on the Corrie cobbles, impressing viewers with his acting in recent months.

Daniel is mourning the death of his wife Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn), whose battle with cancer tragically ended in September.

Thanks to his heartbreaking portrayal of a grieving husband and father, soap star Rob was awarded the Best Performance title at last week’s RTS Awards.
