Coronation Street spoilers: Nick Tilsley's devastating betrayal exposed in revenge twist?

Nick (played by Ben Price) is currently a free man on Coronation Street, serving a suspended sentence after stealing £80,000 from grandmother Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) whilst brother David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) took most of the fall by being banged up for his part in the crime.

The warring brothers’ sister Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) took hold of what was left of the Underworld factory after the roof collapse earlier this year on the ITV soap, whilst Nick faced up to his misdemeanours in court.

Although Sarah was initially bitter with Nick for leading David astray and stealing from Audrey, the pair have since called a truce after her ex Gary (Mikey North) became a mystery investor helping with the factory rebuild.

The peace could soon be upturned however as Gary makes his presence over the factory more known, making Nick his front man as he plays on the Underworld boss harbouring a brain injury.

Before he admitted to being the guilty party behind defrauding Audrey, Nick tried to pin the blame on David, using his brain injury inflicted on him by the latter some years ago to give motive for his brother manipulating him into the world of crime.

Nick’s conscious got the better of him and one of the reasons for getting a suspended sentence was because of his hasty for owning up to the fraud.

Now putting his focus on rebuilding his rubbled business and plastering over the fractures within his family, Nick may find himself at the end of his sister’s wrath as Gary takes control of the factory.

Super villain Gary split from Sarah earlier this year and was heartbroken when she quickly moved on with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

Using his split from Sarah as a motive to manipulate Nick, Gary could get the factory boss to betray his sister as the super villain reveals himself to be the mystery investor.

Brain injury lawyer and Associate at Bolt Burdon Kemp, Ipek Tugcu, told Express.co.uk: “Brain damage can cause significant personality changes affecting mood, emotional reactions, ability to cope and psychiatric health.”

“Frequently, these changes will affect the way someone responds to situations and makes decisions,” Ipek explained.

The brain injury lawyer said such a trauma can “cause a loss of inhibition” as well as the person exerting “poor judgement,” so could this make the boss an easy target for Gary’s manipulative mind game?

Knowing Sarah didn’t want him to work on the factory rebuild full stop after Nick appointed him the project manager for the construction, Gary could use his position as investor to push his ex out the business.

As Nick sides with Gary following the super villain’s manipulation, his relationship with Sarah could come under strain after his devastating betrayal.

“Sadly, breakdowns in relationships are common, and brain injury survivors often talk about how they were a totally different person before their injury,” Ipek added.
