AUDREY Roberts makes the decision to report grandsons Nick Tilsley and David Platt to the police in Coronation Street next week, following the revelation that they were behind the theft of £80k from her bank account.
It’s not an easy decision for the pensioner – who’s played by cobbles legend Sue Nicholls – to make, but she decides they need to face the consequences of their actions.
As they’re taken away by the police, Nick – played by Ben Price – is still putting the pressure on his younger brother to take full blame, in exchange for him signing Trim Up North solely over to him.
But – with the transfer deeds signed – David bravely decides not to give in to Nick’s blackmail and, when the police tell him that Nick has pointed the finger at him, David – Jack P Shepherd – tells them the truth.
He tells them the theft was Nick’s doing, but how will his brother react when he finds out he’s been double-crossed?
Not very well is the answer and their mum, Gail Rodwell, is beside herself when she finds her sons at each other’s throats in the barbers. With all those cut-throat razors around too.
At the end of her tether, Gail pleads with Audrey to drop the charges against the boys for the sake of the family, but will Audrey agree?
Later, Audrey has a heart-to-heart with her old friend Ken Barlow. He reminds her of all the terrible things his family have done over the years and that forgiveness is the only cure.
A reflective Audrey is given food for thought.
Meanwhile Nick’s girlfriend Leanne Battersby – Jane Danson – demands answers and Nick admits that, with Natalie’s help, he stole the £80k from Audrey’s account. He goes on to say that David then blackmailed him into buying the barbers. Leanne is horrified – is this the end of the road for her and Nick?
