Coronation Street brings humour into the nation’s houses in the form of characters like Mary Taylor (played by Patti Clare), Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment), Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell). So much so, fans of the ITV soap have suggested Kirk would be better suited to Emma instead of Beth Tinker (Lisa George). Could a shock affair be on the cards?
Despite being on screens for two decades, Kirk has never really had a big storyline.
Over the years, viewers have seen him support friends and family’s major events, but never be at the forefront of his own personal dilemma.
However, this could change as fans have suggested about how similar his character is to that of Emma’s.
Emma – who is relatively new to Wetherfield compared to Kirk – has continually had bad luck with men.

Fans have suggested she and Kirk could grow close during this time.
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “Emma & Kirky would make a better couple than Kirky & Beth. #Corrie.”
Another wrote: “I agree. Not sure if they actually have that big an age gap, but Beth looks old enough to be his mother #Corrie.”
