Coronation Street fans fume as Rita death scenes 'ruined' by continuity error

Coronation Street ‘s Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) suffered a fall during last night’s episode as her Christmas tree fell on top of her.

The Coronation Street cast member appeared to have broken her arm after being crushed by the tree as she struggled to get up and get help.

However, fans couldn’t help but notice that there appeared to be a continuity error during the episode, as Rita couldn’t put any weight on her arm in one scene, but was laying on it in the next.

One fan wrote: “Epic fail. Rita couldn’t move her right arm now she’s stretched out laying on it ffs. Should of least let her go the the left less painful side after her getting back up.”

Another added: “She was sat up before! Continuity dreadful tonight!”

Rita appeared to have broken or dislocated her right arm during the fall

A third chipped in: “Exactly after falling on her right getting up and adjusting herself to upright(ish) she’s gone right back where she was..! Terrible writing.”

A fourth agreed: “Rita couldn’t move her right arm but ends up resting her head on it while it’s outstretched!?”

Meanwhile, viewers were left devastated as Rita talked to Arthur the cat about her life, appearing to accept her life was over.

However, Rita appeared to be able to lean on the arm, despite having seriously injured it

Poor Rita ended up falling unconscious as Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) realised something was wrong as she called to check up on Rita.

She and Mary rushed to Rita’s house to find her with no pulse, terrifying them as they believed she was dead.

Jenny panicked as Rita appeared to be ice cold, but paramedics rushed into the house to save the day.

Luckily Rita was found by her friends shortly after she fell unconscious

They confirmed that Rita would be okay, just dehydrated from being by herself for so long.

Will Rita’s friends finally pay more attention to her now?

Corrie continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
