Corrie favouite Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) became the first victim of the street’s factory collapse during a tense episode on Wednesday night.
The bride-to-be had been trapped in the rubble since the collapse, and she seemed like she could be minutes from rescue.
However, as Kate Connor (Faye Brooks) frantically made her way to the scene in her wedding dress, things took a turn for the worse.
Rescue workers used heat technology to find Rana, and told the her to remain calm and keep her eyes closed.
Sadly though it was too late, and as the workers began to move the rubble, which caused the entire factory to begin to give way.
The rescuers ran out of the building screaming, leaving Rana on her own as the rubble came tumbling down on top of her.
Rana’s partner, Kate, arrived at the scene just as the the factory collapsed, and her eyes filled with tears as she realised what had happened.
Emotional fans rushed to social media to share their heartbreak at the tragic scenes.
One fan said: “People who will say it’s just a soap, okay but this is the only wlw couple on the show and Rana is a lesbian, a Muslim, and a woman of colour. They didn’t have to brutally kill her. It’s more dead gays.”
A second viewer tweeted: “Outstanding acting by Bhavna Limbachia as Rana on Corrie tonight. Really struggled to watch her suffering under that roof wreck. And feel so heartbroken for Kate.”
A third devastated fan said: “OMG!! #Corrie tonight I’m so shocked!”
While a fourth added: “My heart just broke into 100000 tiny little pieces!”
