Coronation Street has been moved on Friday 11 October AND Monday 14 October to make way for Euro 2020 England matches.

England will be playing Czech Republic on the Friday and on the Monday they are up against Bulgaria in the competition’s qualifying matches.

So between Wednesday, October 9 and Wednesday, 16, there will be no Coronation Street at all.

While Emmerdale is cancelled on both those days, there is the regularly scheduled hour-long episode on the Thursday beforehand, as well as a special hour long one on the Tuesday to make up for the missed episode.

ITV currently has no plans to make up for the lost Corrie, so die-hard fans will just have to wait a week.

There’s still plenty of drama coming up on the cobbles though.

Tonight’s double bill sees Sinead Tinker. (Katie McGlynn) get the devastating news that her cancer has stopped responding to treatment.

Along with husband, Daniel Osbourne, she’s told that her life expectancy is now just weeks, leaving the young couple completely crushed.

It’s also the day of Ken Barlow’s 80 th birthday and Sinead puts on a brave face, assuring Daniel that they should still go.

Daniel then tells her that he’s planned a surprise first birthday party for their son, Bertie, aware that Sinead won’t live to see his real birthday in January.

In the yard of the Rovers, Sinead tells her friends and family her horrible news, leaving them all shocked and saddened.

Tonight also sees Sophie Webster leave the cobbles as she heads off travelling with the money from aunt Vi.

When we pick up with the Weatherfield residents again next Wednesday (!6 October), there’s a shock for Shona Ramsey when Marion Logan – evil Callum Logan’s mum – turns up on the cobbles with plans to apply for custody of Max.

Elsewhere, Sarah Platt gets a fright when baby Harry is knocked unconscious and Sinead’s health deteriorates even more, leaving her wheelchair-bound and zapped of energy.
