Meanwhile, Helen is reportedly heading back to Corrie sooner rather than later, as a source claimed ITV bosses are desperate to get her back after seven stars have quit.

They told the Sun: “Bosses want to bring joy back, on and off screen. The plan is to bring back one or two high-profile stalwarts who are a hit with older viewers.

“They’re keen for Helen to sign after maternity leave. But producers will not budge on the gruelling schedule, and will continue the shock ‘modern’ storylines, even if they risk alienating older viewers.”

Helen left the soap last summer when she went on maternity leave with her second daughter Delilah.

Corrie continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
