Conor McGregor is getting fighting fit ahead of his eagerly-awaited return to UFC .

The two-time world champion is preparing to step back into the Octagon on January 18 next year after over a year away from the sport.

His next opponent is yet to be confirmed, but McGregor is already whipping himself into shape, and showed off his lean physique on his Instagram account.

McGregor captioned his latest post :”Skills pay the bills. So does being a big block of granite. Let’s GO! #SundayWork.”

Fellow lightweights Justin Gaethje and Donald Cerrone are the among the likely contenders for McGregor’s next bout.

The 31-year-old is listed third in the UFC rankings in the lightweight division, ahead of Gaethje in fourth and Cerrone in fifth.

McGregor has already outlined a three-fight plan for his UFC season, which will see him fight twice more after his comeback.

Jorge Masvidal is the latest challenger to emerge for the Notorious star, after he won by TKO over McGregor’s old foe Nate Diaz on Saturday.

Their bout in New York was stopped after round 3 due to deep cuts around Diaz’s right eye, with McGregor stating previously that he was open to fighting the winner.

Masvidal now wants to fight McGregor

And now Masvidal wants to step into the cage with McGregor, and even drew reference to the Dubliner’s recent conviction for assaulting a man, in a bid to coax him into a fight.

Masvidal said: “You know what the f*** I’ll do to that little dude, I’ll f*** that little guy up. He’s a f***** midget!

“Dana White, President of this motherf***** company, said that I’m too much of a man for him.

“I get it why people want to see him hurt for the stunts he’s been pulling. But he don’t want this s***, he’s just talking so he can get his name out there.

“You see he punches old people in the face because those are fights he could win.”
