Conor McGregor impersonator jailed for three years for drug dealing

A drug dealer who attempted to impersonate UFC star Conor McGregor has been sentenced to almost three years in jail.

Mark Nye pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and also to driving whilst disqualified and without insurance, prior to being sentenced on April 9 at Guildford Crown Court.

Nye was stopped by police officers on 11 February in Stanwell and was detained after trying to discard class A drugs and two mobile phones.

Nye also gave officers the false name of ‘Connor’ and had several hundred business cards used for drug dealing, with the name ‘Mcgregor Enterprise’ written on the front and ‘Best drops in Surrey’ on the back.

Officers subsequently analysed his phones and found evidence of hundreds of messages relating to drug dealing.

In a statement released on the Surrey Police Facebook page, investigating officer PC Mcgill said: “A search of the address Mark was staying at revealed a large amount of boric acid, a cutting agent which is used by dealers to cut drugs and can have serious health implications for users themselves.

“Officers also found a large cleaver readily accessible by his bed.

“Thanks to the work of our proactive drugs teams, we have taken yet another dealer off our streets and prevented Mark from causing further harm to the victims of his crimes.”

McGregor is one of the most high-profile sportsmen on the planet after a hugely successful MMA career.

The Irishman is a two-weight world champion in the UFC and is currently pencilled in to fight Dustin Poirier for a third time at UFC 264 on July 10, after the American knocked out McGregor in the second round of their bout in January.

However, YouTube star Jake Paul is hoping he can entice McGregor into a money-spinning boxing match following his victory over former UFC fighter Ben Askren.
