Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone branded "cowards" by animal rights group

Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone have been branded cowards by an animal rights group.

Cerrone turned up a press conference in Las Vegas this week wearing a suit made from python skin.

McGregor, who is no stranger to outlandish outfits, was quick to praise his opponent’s choice of attire.

“That’s one hell of a coat Donald, I’ve got to give credit where it’s due,” he said.

“Don’t worry about me, I’ve got lions on the inside of my baby here but that’s a damn good coat.”

When Cerrone revealed what his suit was made of, he added: “I’m sure PETA might be here because I got rattlesnakes on and python.”

And McGregor responded: “They have a warrant out for me as well, PETA, they’re coming for me, too.

“I used to rock the python shoes when I did The Ultimate Fighter with Uriah Faber, it’s a good skin.

“But you said it yourself, we don’t want trouble with PETA …but they’re a shady crowd apparently.”

PETA  – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – then responded via social media, tweeting: “You’re right! We ARE here – to remind you that only COWARDS would brag about wearing an animal who was likely beaten and skinned alive.

“Why don’t you knock out your insecurities and only wear your OWN skin?”

McGregor came under fire in 2017 when he wore a one-off Gucci coat made from mink fur which cost £40,000.

He now has his own clothing line – August McGregor – and now dresses in a more subdued, but no less expensive, manner.

Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone is live on BT Sport Box Office on Saturday, priced at £19.95
