WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – The Southeast Gamers gathered for their annual “Game Day” at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College to play a variety of video, card, and board games.
Game Day participants spent 25 hours (because of the time change) on November 2nd playing games while sponsors made donations. The donations went to Extra Life, a charity that raises money for local children’s hospitals.
Around 70 people participated in the event. The big attractions of the event were the new Call of Duty, Magic and Super Smash Bros. tournaments.
Game companies even donated games to the cause as prizes, allowing participants the opportunity to observe and learn a game, and then possibly win it at the end of the event.
The Southeast Gamers have been giving to the Extra Life Charity since 2011, raising around $17,000 so far. This year’s event raised $2,850.
Southeast Gamer, Professor Danny Webb said that although Game Day is over, people can still donate to the charity at extralife.org.
