YOU may have got the impression that Wags are self-centred shopaholics that love bitching about other people.
Well, some are but some aren’t. There are some really strong women who support their men and keep their other halves out of s**t, to put it bluntly.
Without them the players could have got themselves into all sorts of scrapes. And one place where they can come a cropper is dealing with fans wanting photos with them or interrupting family meals and days out for autographs.
I’ve seen many a player get irate and snotty when approached.

Meeting fans can be a tricky process because they often think they know the game better than the actual players, they think they know the ins and outs, where they went wrong during a match, what they SHOULD have done.
And when they say things like, “We pay your wages so you have to be nice to us”, it drives players — and Wags — nuts!
But there is one Wag who is always lovely to the fans — Coleen Rooney. I have seen them come up to her time and time again over the years and she is so tolerant. She smiles, lets them take a photo with her, gets Wayne in on it too if he’s there. She is amazing. I just couldn’t be bothered, to be honest.
There are a few Wags who have adopted certain roles . . . if you want a night out that’s fun, invite Steven Gerrard’s wife Alex. If you ever need to answer something, Theo Walcott’s wife Mel is the best person to turn to — she is really bright. And some of us (just being honest) can be a bit dim sometimes.

When you join the Wag club it is daunting. Many of us are terrified and there is always one Wag who makes sure the newest members feel comfortable.
Dawn Ward used to be the person to do that when her husband Ashley still played, now Jordan Henderson’s wife Rebecca Burnett takes them under her wing.
There is one other we turn to at games and that is Jordan Pickford’s partner Megan Davison. But generally it is to look at her. When it comes to glam she is the winner.
None of us ever look as amazing as she does. We’re green with envy.

Box treats are suite
I’D be lying if I didn’t admit to having a favourite ground.
All the Wags love going to Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
When the season starts we look at when we are going there and start planning. We love it!
For about £5,000 you can book the Harvey Nichols suite and invite nine of your friends.
Then you get asked what brands of shoes and electrics you like best and when you get there it is packed full of everything you like to shop for – all in one box!
There’s posh food and unlimited drinks too. All Premier League boxes at the grounds are pretty posh but that is the creme de la creme.
It’s a slight distraction from the game, but our other halves don’t have a clue what we are up to.
Player’s pane crush
MANY Wags panic about their players going out in the UK but don’t worry too much when they are abroad.
When it’s hot, they’re with a group of players and stripped off around a pool, so the chances are they are going to get spotted if they cheat on their other half. But what they don’t bargain for is air stewardesses. They love a footballer.
When they know a player is getting on board they get totally done up.
One player was on a flight to Vegas and chatted up an air stewardess (you can do a lot of flirting on the way to Vegas) and he arranged for her to go back to his room.
But she walked out on him when he took his top off because he had a huge tattoo of his wedding vows.
She was furious – and he wasn’t very pleased either.
