Coleen Rooney has penned a sweet message for her husband Wayne to congratulate him after he retired as a football player.

The mum-of-four shared a family photo, complete with the kids and Wayne in England shirts, and a second snap of her husband walking along the pitch alone.

‘Congratulations on a fantastic career @waynerooney,’ she wrote. ‘Won everything at club level, some a few times over, x2 leading goal scoring records for both club and country, which have taken years to break. You should be SO proud of yourself, because we are!! ❤️

‘Thank you for letting me be part of it from start to finish. 19 years later & 4 kids who have been lucky to witness you playing.

‘We love you!! Good luck in the next chapter of your career as manger, sure you’ll be great, but remember, all you can do is try your best. 💪🏼 [sic].’

Wayne recently signed a two-and-a-half year deal to take over as the Derby boss, and called time on his 19-year career on the pitch.

‘When I first arrived back in the United Kingdom I was completely blown away by the potential of Derby County Football Club,’ he said.

‘The Stadium, Training Ground, the quality of the playing staff and the young players coming through and of course the fan base that has remained loyal and supportive.

Coleen and Wayne have been married since 2008, with the star most recently celebrating her husband’s 35th birthday.

She also shared some loved-up photos of herself and her hubby, writing in the caption: ‘Happy Birthday @waynerooney. We all love you so much ❤️🎂😘.’
