Coleen Rooney breaks social media silence after Rebekah Vardy row

Coleen Rooney has returned to social media after she claimed that someone with access to Rebekah Vardy’s Instagram account had leaked fake stories about her family to the press.

Rooney, who is married to former England captain Wayne, posted a message on Twitter earlier this month which revealed that she had spent months trying to work out the source of the alleged leak.

The 33-year-old explained how she had blocked all users apart from Vardy’s account from being able to see her Instagram stories then posted false information to “see if they made their way into the Sun newspaper.”

Vardy, 37, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie, has vehemently denied the allegations and said she has hired a cyber security expert to clear her name.

In her first Twitter post since the row, Rooney shared a photo of her one-year-old son Cass playing in the autumn leaves.

She revealed that she and her youngest child had not been able to join the rest of the family on holiday in Barbados after she “became poorly with an infection” shortly before they were due to travel.

“Lovely morning in the fresh air with Cass,” she wrote. “We had planned to be with the rest of our family in Barbados for half term break. Unfortunately I became poorly with an infection before we were due to leave.

“I am not able to join them for the time being, even though I am feeling better.”

Replying to a response from a follower with a private account, Rooney said that she decided to share the news “before the stories start” after her family were photographed in Barbados without her.

“Thought I’d put it out there before the stories start, as my children are getting photographed there and am not with them,” she wrote.

Rooney is also mother to nine-year-old Kai, six-year-old Klay and three-year-old Kit.
