Cleaning fan shows how much dirt is in our radiators – and how to get rid of it

A cleaning fan has posted a video showing how to remove the dust and dirt lurking in our radiators – and viewers have called it a “game changer”.

TikTok user CleanwithAbbi has racked up millions of likes and views sharing video tutorials of cleaning hacks tackling every room in the house.

After noticing how much dust had gathered in one of her radiators, Abbi demonstrated the method she uses to clean them, and exposed how much dirt they are really harbouring.

She begins by removing the side panels and metal grill on top before giving them a scrub in the sink using Fabulosa disinfectant and a Sph2Onge.

Dust and dirt builds up fast

Abbi then begins pouring small amounts of water down through the top of the radiator, placing a dish at the bottom to catch it, with the water now thick with dirt.

She repeats the process to flush out all the dust, but some viewers commented to say it could cause a radiator to rust and advised using a hairdryer to simply blow it out instead, which also stops your walls potentially getting wet.

The mum-of-two then uses a sponge and brush to remove further dust from around the edges, before dropping water through again to pick up anything remaining.

The results are pretty grim

She shows off the impressive end results and the clip has racked up more than 700,000 views as many people were left stunned to discover they could remove the radiator’s panels.

One said: “IT COMES OFF?? Know what my job is tomorrow!”

A second wrote: “Wait. The sides come off? I take the tops off but this changes everything.”

Another said: “Omg I had to clean mine straight after this, thank you.”

And someone else added their own method, replying: “You don’t need to take the cover off, all you need to do is use a hair dryer. I’m a cleaner for a holiday company, it’s what we do, works a treat!”
