Claudia Winkleman: Strictly host shocks audience as she spills on health issues off-air

Claudia Winkleman, 47, is believed to have shocked the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 studio audience on Saturday night as she revealed she was suffering from water retention, gas problems as well as finding a grey hair. She also announced she was wearing eight pairs of underwear Spanx after struggling to fit into her silver tassel dress.

According to the Mail Online, she joked to the audience: “I’ve got so much water retention, I literally can’t fit in any clothes.

“That’s why I’m wearing a dress that makes me look like a car wash. I’m wearing eight pairs of Spanx.”

Later in the show, Claudia reportedly joked she was “unravelling” as she also discovered some other issues.

She is said to have added: “I’ve got so much water retention. I’ve got a gas problem and I just found a grey hair. I’m practically unravelling on live TV!”

The presenter was then reported to have shouted out to Tess from backstage: “Tess, come help me with my Spanx!”

Meanwhile, the mother-of-three has explained what happens to her stunning clothes after she wears them to present on Strictly Come Dancing.

The star admitted she doesn’t get to keep them and they actually get passed on to other BBC productions.

She told the Mirror: “I love the clothes I wear on Strictly but I don’t get to keep them.

“They go back to the BBC and I absolutely love it when I see other people wearing them.”

She continued: “Actress Letitia Dean [plays Sharon Mitchell] on EastEnders came on in one of my dresses and that was really exciting.”

On last night’s Strictly results show, Alex Scott and Neil Jones were the latest couple to be eliminated from the competition.

The couple found themselves in the dance-off opposite Chris Ramsey and Karen Hauer.

The judges were split with their decision with Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse both choosing to save Alex and Neil while Bruno Tonioli and head judge Shirley Ballas opted to keep Chris and Karen in the competition.

With the celebrities now approaching semi-final week, it’s Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse who are the favourites to win.

The former Emmerdale actor has odds at 2-5 with bookmaker Coral to win Strictly and lift the Glitterball Trophy.

Karim Zeroual is 4-1 after receiving the first full score of 40 at the weekend for his Jive to You Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray with professional dancer Amy Dowden.

While Emma Barton and Chris are the 6-1 outsiders to win the BBC One competition.

“Kelvin has consistently excelled throughout this series and it is the Emmerdale actor who is the red-hot favourite heading into the semi-final,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“After his perfect score on Saturday evening, we have seen strong support for Karim Zeroual who looks to be the biggest challenger to Kelvin for the Glitterball Trophy,” he added.

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
