Claudia Winkleman: 'I felt so guilty' Strictly host in surprising shoplifting admission

Claudia Winkleman, 47, has revealed she made a “wrong” move as a teenager when she “stole” a tester from Boots. The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 host, who is currently promoting her new makeup range with the health and beauty retailer, admitted to pocketing a lipstick from the shop when she was a teenager. Claudia explained she used to visit the shop with pals after school and try on beauty products. The presenter divulged to The Mirror: “Boots was my life! We used to go in after school, try stuff on and be like, ‘Ooh, we’re going to meet boys!’

“I stole a tester from the Boots at Moorgate Station once.

“It was a crumbling, pearlised lipstick.”

However, Claudia soon felt guilty over her act of rebellion and confessed to her mum when she got home.

The TV personality told the publication: “I felt so guilty I went home, told my mum and we got on the tube to take it back.”

Fortunately, the staff at the shop forgave Claudia and were “very sweet”.

She recalled: “I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I’m just a schoolgirl.’ Luckily they were very sweet.

“I knew it was wrong and ever since then I’ve had a love affair with Boots.”

The Strictly favourite’s makeup collaboration with Boots is called Full Panda by Claudia and will be launching soon on November 4.

Elsewhere, Claudia opened up about her love life before marrying husband Kris Thykier.

In a 2006 Q&A with The Guardian, the star explained what love feels like to her.

She said: “Soft and scary and exhilarating and like coming home.”

“What was the best kiss of your life?” the publication quizzed.

“A boy called Stephen,” the Strictly favourite replied.

She added: “I was 16 and didn’t understand why he was licking my ear. I worked it out eventually.”

When asked what the worst thing anyone had ever said to her was, Claudia replied: “I don’t love you… Let go of my coat.”

The mum-of-three went on to reveal the “loves of her life” are her children.

Strictly Come Dancing continues next week at 7pm on BBC One.
