Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Tenet is shrouded in secrecy, to the point where star Robert Pattinson had to read the script in a locked room.

But we do know it’s gonna be pricey.

The ‘massive, innovative, action blockbuster’ is filming in Tallin, Estonia, one of seven countries Nolan will be filming in.

And according to Estonian Public Broadcasting, Tenet has a budget of $225 million (£177 million) – making it one of the most expensive original films ever made, ie a film that isn’t based on previously existing material.

The only films that broke the bank further are Tangled, which cost $260m (£204m) and Avatar, which cost $237m (£186m).

Tenet is set to be Nolan’s second most expensive film behind The Dark Knight Rises, which cost $230m (£181m).

However, it’s far from the money spent on Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is the most expensive film ever made at $379 million (£298 million) – it did earn over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, though.

Tenet will star Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Michael Caine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, Elizabeth Debicki and Dimple Kapadia.

The project will film across the UK, Estonia, Italy and India, among other countries, and R-Patz said it will be ‘the length of three movies’ and that it’s ‘the craziest thing I’ve seen in years’.

And… er, that’s all we know.

The film is so secretive that Pattinson was only allowed to read the script once.

He told USA Today: ‘I got locked in a room to read the script – I don’t have it myself. I read the script and it’s unreal.’

We are very intrigued.

Tenet is slated for release on 17 July 2020.
