Christine Lampard opened up about the moment she told her parents she was dating footballer Frank Lampard – and their low-key reaction is just brilliant.
The presenter, 40, who gave birth to her baby daughter Patricia in September last year, revealed that her folks aren’t actually into football, so they weren’t starstruck by Chelsea manager and former footballer Frank.
She told the Loose Women panel: ‘Well, the fact is that they’re not into football whatsoever. Like a lot of footballing families would be like, “Oh my gosh, he plays football!”
‘My parents just don’t have a clue! So it’s actually quite refreshing because they will never talk football to him and he quite likes that.’
She added that her parents have always approved of her choice in men, explaining: ‘But I was always wanting to keep mum and dad happy and they always trusted me – I hope – to never really make a wrong decision.
‘So I never brought anybody home that they’d disapprove of – because what would have been the point?’
The panel also discussed their partners’ style, with Christine adding: ‘He wears a suit well, I think. I would actually trust him to buy clothes for me.’
Christine and Frank met in 2009 at the Pride of Britain Awards, and tied the knot in 2015 before welcoming their daughter in 2018.
Patricia is Christine’s first child, while Frank has two daughter’s with his ex-wife Elen Rivas, 14-year-old Luna and 12-year-old Isla.
The couple named their baby after Frank’s mum, who died in 2008 and waited until the baby was born to find out its gender.
We love how chilled her parents were about her football star bae – though we guess having a famous daughter probably means they’re more used to dealing with a celeb in the house.
