Chris Tarrant hopes 'coughing major' drama doesn't portray cheat in good light

Chris Tarrant hopes a new TV drama about the ‘‘coughing major’’ does not portray the cheat in a good light.

The presenter, 73, fronted in 2001 when Charles Ingram swindled his way to winning £1million.

Ingram got a pal in the audience to cough whenever the correct answer came up.

Tarrant said on ITV’sFormer army major Ingram was eventually convicted of fraud.

Now ITV have made a drama about the story called Quiz, with Michael Sheen playing Tarrant.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was revived last year with Jeremy Clarkson in the hot seat.

However Tarrant admitted he has not seen the new version of the show, claiming that he “only ever watched two episodes” when he was fronting it himself.
