Chris Ramsey: ‘I went mental’ Comedian speaks out on joining Strictly Come Dancing 2019

Chris Ramsey has been announced as one of the celebrities competing in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The exciting news was made by Matt Baker and Stacey Dooley on The One Show this evening.

The comedian said he went “mental” when he found out and didn’t keep it a secret.

He spilled: “I went mental! I told everyone, I told three of me mates on a stag do but they forgot…”

Matt pointed out Chris’ wife, Rosie Winter, used to be a professional dancer.

The star replied: “She will show us up everywhere!”

About joining the line-up he said: “I’m both excited and absolutely terrified to be doing the show.

“You will not find me on the dance floor at parties, you will find me at the buffet table. All night.

“At my wedding I danced with my wife; that one song took about 6 months practice, and I definitely stood on her feet a couple of times.”

He added: “So I’m looking forward to the possibility of making a fool of myself in front of millions of people… there better be a buffet after the live shows.”

Former England goalkeeper, David James, and EastEnders actress, Emma Barton, were also announced to be on the Strictly Com Dancing line-up.

Elsewhere, there will be a big change when the show returns to BBC One in September.

Motsi Mabuse, the sister of professional dancer Oti Mabuse, will be replacing Darcey Bussell on the judging panel.

On her new appointment, Motsi said: “I am absolutely overjoyed to be joining the Strictly judging panel.

“I have so much respect and admiration for the other three judges and hope to add my own bit of sparkle to the show. I can’t wait to get started!”

A new professional dancer has also joined the team, Nancy Xu.

The 28-year-old will be replacing Pasha Kovalev who quit the BBC One competition earlier this year.

The dancer said: “I’m thrilled and excited! I cannot wait to start this new journey with all these amazing people and share the magic together.”

Nancy joins AJ Pritchard, Aljaž Škorjanec, Amy Dowden, Anton du Beke, Dianne Buswell, Giovanni Pernice, Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Janette Manrara, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Kevin Clifton, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones and Oti Mabuse, on the show.

The dancers are currently in rehearsals ahead of its return in September.
