Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host given STARK warning by Piers Morgan after huge success

Chris was warned by the GMB host after new figures showed Virgin Radio’s audience had tripled in the last 10 weeks. The 53-year-old was congratulated by Piers before he was warned not to take over GMB’s audience. He told listeners the show received 1.4million listeners in the past 10 weeks.

Speaking on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, Chris said: “It’s incredible. 1.44million now listen to Virgin Radio which is an audience increase of triple since we started on January 21.

“That’s in a 10-week quarter.

“So, usually you will get 13 weeks as a quarter.

“We had 10. Thanks to you 1.44million.

“Way beyond our wildest dreams!

“We do have a target and it does involve that amount of listeners.

“But it was a way off to be honest, to put it mildly.

“Bumped into Piers Morgan, not on purpose, yesterday at the Chelsea Flower Show.

“He said ‘well done on the numbers. Amazing.’

“He said ‘I texted chief meerkat and told her straight away.’

“Absolute vindication. I wasn’t aware that was necessary but anyway it was nice to hear.

“He said ‘as long as you don’t start eating into our figures now on GMB, of course.’

“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.

“If you’re any good at anything there’s always room for everyone.”

Chris recently told listeners Virgin Radio has more than 30 million listening hours.

Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
