Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host details 'nightmare' after on-air trouble 'Forgot script'

Chris Evans, 54, reminiced on old times with his pal Cat Deeley, 43, on Thursday and the two took a long trip down memory lane. Ahead of her new book release, Cat reunited with colleagues Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly from their SMTV days, which provoked an embarrassing memory Chris had put to the back of his mind.

As part of the live Saturday morning telly show, which last aired 22-years ago, the trio performed humorous sketches one of which was Chums – a parady of the US sitcom Friends.

Viewers watched as Dec and Cat were in a relationship, dealing with Ant and a serious problem.

They were often joined by celebrity guests, which saw Chris appear alongside them in a one-off.

But he recalled he hadn’t learnt the script at all before going on-air.

“Your improvisation skills were phenomenal.”

Chris wasn’t so sure: “Was it pretty obvious that I didn’t know what was going on the whole time?” he winced, wondering if he’d made a pigs ear of it.

Cat disagreed: “It always is with Chum, in for a penny in for a pound, get in there and be enthusiastic!”

Her appearance on the show comes after the trio reunited at their old stomping grounds to promote her new book.
