Chris Evans: Virgin Radio DJ drops surprise parenting admission 'You're always judged'

Chris Evans, 53, has shared his views on parenting during a conversation with CBeebies’ The Baby Club presenter, Giovanni Fletcher. The Virgin Radio show host revealed he and his golf-pro wife Natasha like the “rough and tumble” way of letting their kids explore and find their feet.

“We let our twins find things out for themselves as much as we can without endangering their wellbeing,” he said.

He continued to explain that he and his family took a trip to the beach on Tuesday, where 17-month-old Walt wanted to play on a swinging sign outside an ice cream shop.

“He was having the time of his life, walking through this sign from one side to the other,” Chris giggled.

“He fell over a couple of times and there were some concerned parents saying ‘Is that alright?’ and I said ‘Well he seems to be happy.’

“I mean, it was hitting him on the head a little bit,” Chris laughed as Giovanni asked: “But not enough to make him cry?”

“He was giggling!” the host exclaimed.

“Some parents would dive on this situation because you’re being judged.

“He’s being judged, I’m being judged… the wind was being judged!” he laughed, explaining it was particularly windy down on the South front.

During his show early last year, he said he now takes a more “hands on” approach to parenting, finding out what it really means to be a parent.

The former Top Gear presenter, who shares Noah and Eli with Natasha and 33-year-old daughter Jade from a previous relationship, admitted he received a shock to the system now he’s stepping in to do some of what he described as “the natural things”.

“The thing with having twins is that I am closer to both twins now than I was with both Eli and Noah at the same age,” he said.

“Because there was [only] one of them and mum does most of the natural things.
