Chris Evans: Virgin Radio Breakfast show host makes cheeky dig about BBC after move

Chris told listeners his co-host Rachel Horne was facing a 5kg packing limit for her trip to Monaco. The 53-year-old joked with Rachel and listeners as to how she could increase her limit. He then went on to suggest the BBC wouldn’t allow a topic of conversation.

Speaking on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, Chris said: “Lots of love coming in for Rachel.

“Now she has her 5kg packing limit.”

Listeners wrote into Chris and advised Rachel to send her clothes in a parcel.

A message from listener, Michelle, read: “Take what you want to Monaco and DHL the excess kilos. That is an idea, actually.”

A further listener, Louise, messaged the show: “I’m flying home from on Tuesday and I will happily bring Rachel’s bags for her.

“A girl can’t do the most glam gp on the calendar without her glad rags.”

Chris went on to joke: “Can you imagine having this conversation on the BBC?”

Chris previously revealed how he almost missed his second child’s birth because he was at the Hay Festival.

He said: “My wife has given birth to four children. I was there for all of them.

“Just about in time for the second one. I was doing the Hay Festival when she went into labour.

“She was late so, we thought Hay’s just around the corner. We made all these provisions for me having to get back.

“But the whole trip was only a 12-hour stop and I’m not going to miss it by being away for 12 hours.

“Well, I nearly did.

“I was in the pub and just ordered a pint of shandy, because I was being semi responsible, and a bag of nuts.”

His co-host interjected: “You got the text.”

Chris added: “He just looked at me and said ‘oh my God, that’s the text, isn’t it?’”

Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
