He continued: “By the way, I’m not unhappy with my package here, believe me!”
Chris announced his departure from the BBC in 2018, after eight years at the helm of Radio 2 and 13 years at the station.
“I’m going to leave. I’m leaving Radio 2,” he told listeners at the time, promising he’d stay on air until Christmas.
“Some of us are mountain climbers [but] if you get to the top of your favourite mountain and you stay there, you become an observer,” he explained the decision.
