Chris Evans chooses his favourite Captain America MCU fight scene

Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?

Sitting down for a brand new interview, Marvel golden boy and current Captain America Chris Evans has appeared over on THR to take questions from fans on everything from his dog’s nickname (Bubba) to his last day filming on Avengers: Endgame (it was emotional) in various adorable sweaters, brooding, smiling joyfully and just looking near-disturbingly phenomenal, in accordance with his ongoing personal brand.

The actor kept his answers brief for the most part, but opened up a little when he was asked what his favourite Captain America fight scene is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.

A fan suggested that his face off alongside Bucky Barnes against Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War was hard to beat, but Evans responded by selecting the elevator scene from 2014’s The Winter Solider instead, where Steve Rogers battles HYDRA and Frank Grillo’s Crossbones in an iconic and very claustrophobic escape trial for Cap.

“I’m partial to that fight scene in the elevator,” he revealed. “That was, uh, the first scene we shot in the second Captain America movie. It was my first time working with the Russos; it was the first time where it felt like Cap was kind of on his own. In the first Cap movie, you know, you really felt like everyone was holding my hand and the first Avengers movie, I just did my best to not get in the way. The second Cap movie is the one that I really kind of felt, I suppose, pressure and that first elevator fight scene came out really great in my opinion.”

Audiences are gearing up to potentially bid goodbye to Evans’ Captain America when he returns next month for a final showdown against Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, but things may not be quite so cut and dried – director Joe Russo has previously teased that Evans is “not done yet” with Marvel, adding “I won’t explain what that means, but audiences will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Maybe bring a box of tissues along, just in case.
