Chinese language shot putter Tian eyes Army World Video games’ podium – Infosurhoy

XI’AN, March 3 (Xinhua) — Chinese men’s shot put budding star Tian Zizhong hoped to win a medal at the upcoming Military World Games slated for October in Wuhan, Hubei province.

Tian, winner of the 2017 China’s National Games, was defeated by Chen Jian and Feng Jie after throwing to a distance of 18.13 meters for the third place in the fourth race of the Chinese Indoor Athletics National Championships being held here since March 3-4.

“I got married, so I didn’t have enough training last winter. I was the winner of the third race, I felt a little bit tired during today’s competition,” the 27-year-old told Xinhua on Sunday.

“I’m afraid that I can’t secure a place for the 2019 IAAF World Championships, but I will try my best to adjust myself and reach the podium in the Military World Games,” Tian added.

As a rising star of the track and field event, Tian placed fourth in the Military World Games four years ago.

Feng Jie, who earned a bronze in China’s National Games in 2017, became the runner-up with a distance of 18.69 meters, beaten by Chen Jian who won the event with 19.23 meters.

The Military World Games, a quadrennial multi-sports event since 1995, will have its seventh edition to be held in Wuhan from October 18 to 27.
