CHINA are “open and ready” to deliver Boris Johnson a bumper trade deal, their top diplomat has said.
The Chinese ambassador to London Liu Xiaoming said the country is ready to restart the bumper trade deal talks that were paused during last years Brexit deadlock.
Speaking to Sky News, the diplomat warned it may take time because of the coronavirus, but a deal was coming.
He insisted both sides were willing “to engage each other more positively”.
Mr Liu added: “When it comes to a trade deal, we are open.
“We are ready to work with our British colleagues any time.”
He also praised British officials, saying they had already “expressed a willingness” to restart talks.
The huge boost for the Prime Minister came after his first telephone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday morning.
Mr Liu claimed the PM told Mr Xi that he “loves China” and wants to work with Beijing to lift bilateral relations to a new level.
He added: “They had a very good conversation.”
The diplomat said the pair also “talked about the relationship, how the two countries will strengthen this relationship for the next ten years”.
