Cheryl cements pop comeback with dance-floor smash Let You: 'I forgot I had a voice'

The brunette beauty, who has five solo No1 songs under her belt, is ready to take over dance floors once more.

Teaming up with Girls Aloud band mate Nicola Roberts to co-write the track, Cheryl’s latest offering – out Friday – is a bonafide pop banger.

Lyrically, Let You is about moving on from a doomed relationship.

“You don’t understand the chance I took on you/ I gave you loyalty, you were on your knees… yeah,” Cheryl’s instantly recognisable voice sings.

“See for a moment I forgot I had a voice/ So I am telling you what you are about to lose”

The former X Factor judge defiantly adds: “See for a moment I forgot I had a voice/ So I am telling you what you are about to lose.”

If 2018’s Love Made Me Do It was her big return to the stage, Let You has cemented her status as British pop legend.

While the seven-month wait since her latest musical offering may have seemed like a lifetime for Cheryl’s army of fans, we can safely say it has been worth it.

Timed perfectly to dominate airwaves over long summer nights, Let You is a clear return to form for Cheryl.

A mixture of Call My Name and I Don’t Care, Let You is an upbeat offering with a hook that will instantly loop in your head after the first listen.

Thanks to the candid lyrics, fans will no doubt be quick to speculate who Chezza is singing about.

Since her last album, Cheryl has been with both Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and Liam Payne.

And while the starlet is unlikely to comment directly, she has recently offered an insight into the inspiration for Let You.

“I’ve been with men who were controlling, who made me unhappy, but I allowed it to happen,” she told Stella magazine.

“Women let these relationships happen, and that’s what this song is about.

“But once you see it and recognise it, you have to try and not let it happen again.”

The mum-of-one added: “I own my mistakes.

“I’ve learnt more from them than I have from my successes.

“I’ve learnt how hard it is to be happy, and now I can honestly say I am happy.”

Cheryl – Let You is available to buy and stream from Friday May 31
