Cheryl breaks down in tears as disabled ballroom dancer fails to make Greatest Dancer live shows

CHERYL Tweedy broke down in tears last night when a disabled woman failed to make it through on The Greatest Dancer.

The 36-year-old couldn’t help but weep as she watched wheelchair-bound Jacqueline take in the news that she hadn’t been picked for a team with her husband Alex.

Earlier on in the episode, the married ballroom dancers revealed they took up learning how to dance together 13 years ago.

And Jacqueline said about their routines: “We’re fighters so we want everything to be perfect, and that’s what makes us such a good team.”

Alex said: “Now when we dance we can tell everybody, ‘you can do anything you want'”

And as they took to the dance floor the pair left the audience awestruck with their breathtaking Foxtrot to Christina Aguilera’s emotional song Hurt.

The mirrors opened for the married couple after they completed an incredible lift, and the captains gave them a standing ovation.

Cheryl heaped praise on them, saying: “You are the perfect example of not letting a disability stand in the way of your ability because that was a stunning performance.”

And Oti, 29, said: “We haven’t actually had anyone come out here and do a ballroom piece. But the fact you can do a beautiful Foxtrot and still have a lot of rise and fall.

“You did a fall-away whisk and led that into a fall-away drop and then you did this incredible lift – well done!”

But at the end of the show, Oti picked hip hop troupe Dark Angels as the Greatest Dancers of the day.

At callbacks the judges had the chance to pick two others each.

Matthew Morrison, 41, picked Harrison, a dancer from Lipverpool dressed as a clown.

Todrick Hall, 34, put through solo dancer Ryan and Cheryl chose The Queens while Oti picked Vale.

But seeing Jacqueline and Alex fail to make it through left Cheryl wiping away tears.

She said: “The competition is getting so tough.”
