Chelsea are well on their way in the transfer market after making strides to sign Ben Chilwell and Timo Werner – and the pair are set to be their biggest summer signings.

However, it may not be the only business they pursue.

According to Goal, Chelsea’s financial might is restricted due to the coronavirus pandemic, meaning they can only make a couple of big-money signings.

Werner and Chilwell are their two top targets, but they hope to get a couple more through the door.

It’s likely Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will then pursue loan and swap deals.

Ajax star Hakim Ziyech has already agreed to move to Stamford Bridge in a £36.7million deal, while Chelsea have seemingly beaten Liverpool to Werner’s signature.

Red Bull Leipzig striker Werner is set to join after Chelsea activated his £53m release clause, swooping in after Liverpool stalled over a deal.

Chilwell is next in line for Chelsea chiefs.

The Leicester left-back has told Brendan Rodgers he is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.

He could be set to cost in the region of £85m, which would eat up the majority of Chelsea’s summer budget.

But Lampard will attempt some wheeling and dealing in order to add to his squad, while the budget could also be increased if he chooses to offload some of his current stars.
