Angel Gomes has hinted his priority is to remain at Manchester United, despite interest from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

While fellow academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams have firmly established themselves as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team squad, Gomes has struggled to make a similar impact.

The talented forward has made just six first team appearances in all competitions this season and the possible addition of Jadon Sancho this summer would further restrict his chances of making a breakthrough at Old Trafford.

Gomes is said to have been frustrated at his inability to make progress and has watched on as several of his peers, including Tahith Chong, have signed improved contracts recently.

Chelsea, who have blooded a clutch of youngsters this season under Frank Lampard, have been monitoring Gomes’ situation carefully but Metro.co.uk reported last month that United had reopened negotiations and are prepared to offer the player a £30,000-a-week.

Speaking in an official United Google Hangout with teammate Andreas Pereira, Gomes spoke about his ambitions at United and appeared to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club.

‘I’ve seen it over the years, coming up from the academy and being at United my whole career,’ said Gomes.

‘It’s what I want to go on to do – win trophies for the club.’
