Chelsea transfer round-up as Kane approached and Bayern Munich defender linked

Chelsea have recorded their second Champions League before any of their London rivals have bagged one, but that is unlikely to cause the Blues to rest on their laurels in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a remarkable turn around in fortunes, taking over while the club languished in tenth before guiding them to the FA Cup final, top four qualification and Champions League glory.

Their performance in the final of European club football’s most prestigious competition typified everything positive about Tuchel’s Chelsea, defensively resilient while making a number of chances against a side of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City’s calibre.

The game finished 1-0 on the night, with club record signing Kai Havertz bagging the only goal and going some way to paying off his £72million price tag for that effort alone.

Last summer saw Chelsea part ways with more than £220m on additions to the playing staff, with each one having mixed levels of success since arriving in West London.

Despite spending so much last year, given the Champions League success it is likely that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will provide more than a sufficient amount of cash for Tuchel to use how he sees fit in the upcoming transfer window.

Featuring speculation surrounding an approach for Tottenham star Harry Kane, here is Friday’s Chelsea transfer round-up.

Chelsea in contact with Harry Kane’s entourage

Harry Kane secured his third Premier League golden boot this season after yet another spectacular individual campaign despite no silverware to show for it.

His lack of team trophies has led to intense speculation over his future, with the Spurs’ striker thought to be eager to call time on his 16-year Tottenham career.

Recent reports have stated how Kane’s representatives have had contact from a number of Premier League sides including Chelsea.

Though Kane is understandably adored by the Tottenham faithful, with former boss Jose Mourinho claiming he is a “special player in the history of the club”, a move to a fellow London rival could tarnish his legacy in the Spurs half of North London.

Bayern Munich star Niklas Sule is the subject of interest from Chelsea and the German giants are reportedly willing to listen to offers.

Bayern are rumoured to be interested in meeting Chelsea representatives and negotiate a fee for the central defender.

Though Thiago Silva has proved to be a shrewd bit of business by the Blues, the 36-year-old limped out of action in the Champions League final and may not be able to feature as much next season should Chelsea extend his contract for a further year.

Who should Chelsea sign this summer? Have your say in the comments below.

Since joining the German giants in 2017, Sule has won four league titles, a Champions League and amassed 133 appearances at just 25 years of age.

Before a European Championship qualifying game between Germany and the Netherlands, Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk dubbed the Munich stalwart as a ‘great defender’.

The Blues attacking woes are well-documented given midfielder Jorginho ended the season as Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League with seven, all of which came from the penalty spot.

Timo Werner notched 12 in all competitions but hardly a glittering debut season after Chelsea forked out £45m for him.

However, Werner’s showings clearly haven’t put Chelsea off of doing business with RB Leipzig, as reports claim the Blues want to lure striker Patson Daka away from the Bundesliga outfit.

Daka bagged 34 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season, which goes some wat to explaining why Chelsea are not the only club to rate the 22-year-old so highly.
