Chelsea transfer news: Tagliafico interest stepped up as clubs keen on keeper

The start of the 2020/21 Premier League season is only weeks away and Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market in preparation.

The Blues wasted no time in securing deals for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech, and it seems Kai Havertz is next on their shopping list.

Chelsea’s move for the German midfielder is expected to accelerate now that Bayer Leverkusen are out of the Europa League, but the Stamford Bridge club are also reportedly interested in a number of other targets.

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Ajax left-back is likeliest Chilwell alternative

Nicolas Tagliafico appears likely to be Chelsea’s top target if Ben Chilwell proves too expensive

Chelsea are stepping up their interest in signing Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax this summer, with Frank Lampard eager to add a new left-back to his squad before the start of next season.

Sky Sports claim the Stamford Bridge club see Ben Chilwell as their primary target, but with Leicester City demanding a hefty transfer fee for the England international it’s possible they could turn their attentions elsewhere.

Sergio Reguilon is also a target for Chelsea, with the Spanish left-back impressing on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid this season.

Tagliafico, however, is the likeliest alternative to Chilwell, with the Argentine having impressed for Ajax since signing for the Eredivisie club from Independiente in 2018.

Chelsea want between £16m and £18m for Tiemoue Bakayoko

AC Milan will attempt to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea rather than on a permanent transfer.

Bakayoko is on the fringes of Lampard’s Chelsea squad after spending the 2019/20 season on loan at Monaco, and the Blues are believed to be open to selling the 25-year-old for the right price.

According to Sportitalia (via Inside Futebol), the French midfielder is said to favour a move to the San Siro having spent the 2018/19 season on loan there.

But Chelsea want a fee of between £16million and £18m for Bakayoko – which could push AC Milan into pursuing another loan deal for the forthcoming season.

Championship clubs keen on Chelsea keeper

Nathan Baxter is attracting interest from clubs including Derby and Birmingham

Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter is reportedly on the radar of a number of Championship clubs.

Sports Mole claims Baxter, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Stamford Bridge club, is attracting attention from Derby and Birmingham who want to sign the 21-year-old on a season-long loan.

Baxter spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, impressing for the Highland side as he gained some much-needed first team experience.

The young goalkeeper still has three years remaining on his Chelsea contract and having been loaned out to Solihull Moors, Woking, Yeovil Town and Ross County, a fifth temporary spell away from his parent club could be in the offing.

According to reports, the 23-year-old is set to finally leave Stamford Bridge, having been loaned out by Chelsea no fewer than five times since his £1.25m signing five years years ago.

Most recently, Pantic joined Hungarian outfit Fehervar FC on loan, but had his spell there cut short and moved to Cukaricki in his homeland in the January transfer window.
