  • Chelsea need to make three attacking signings before Friday’s deadline
  • Krzysztof Piatek, Dries Mertens and Hakim Ziyech have been linked in January
  • Chelsea are currently holding talks with Napoli over the signing of Dries Mertens
  • Olivier Giroud is willing to join Premier League rivals Tottenham this window

Giroud set to stay

Tottenham chiefs are concerned that Chelsea will not sell them Olivier Giroud because of the rivalry between the two sides, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs are keen to sign Giroud as a short-term replacement for injured Harry Kane.

But officials believe there is a chance Chelsea will say no because of the animosity between the London rivals.

Kalidou Koulibaly staying

Manchester United and Chelsea have been trying to sign Kalidou Koulibaly this month, with both teams trying to add more experience to their back line.

But, the Napoli centre-back expects to remain in Serie A until at least the summer, it’s been claimed.

Koulibaly, and a number of the Napoli players, fell out with De Laurentiis earlier this season, after the club decided to sack Carlo Ancelotti.

United and Chelsea had hoped that the defender’s disagreement with De Laurentiis would work in their favour, as they try to broker a deal.

But, the Serie A club are still unwilling to let their star defender leave this month, The Sun claim.

Willian to Barcelona latest

Barcelona are supposedly preparing a £20million offer for Chelsea playmaker Willian.

That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who claims the Catalan giants are hopeful of securing a deal for the Brazilian.

“We’ve just got another transfer update coming into us,” Solhekol said. “This is a big story regarding Chelsea. What we are hearing at the moment is that Barcelona are preparing to make a late, last-minute, £20m bid for the Chelsea winger Willian.

“He is a player they have tried to sign in the past, they’ve been long-term admirers of the Brazilian who is out of contract in the summer.

“Barcelona believe they can get him for £20m. Now it is interesting, Willian’s situation at Chelsea, because he’s just got six months left on his contract.”

Krzysztof Piatek blow

Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea look to have missed out on Krzysztof Piatek.

The Premier League trio were linked with AC Milan’s talented forward, who has been made available following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return.

Jose Mourinho’s side were only prepared to offer a loan deal but Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin want a permanent move.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claim Hertha have agreed a deal with AC Milan and Piatek is expected to fly to Germany in the coming hours.

Wanted: Tariq Lamptey

Chelsea teenager Tariq Lamptey is a wanted man.

Lamptey, 19, has made three appearances under Frank Lampard this season and has received high praise for his displays.

The full-back is out of contract at the end of the campaign and is free to discuss terms with other clubs.

Chelsea are still trying to reach an agreement over a new contract with Lamptey but Goal claim ‘small details’ are preventing him from signing.

It’s said he’s been approached with pre-contract agreements from Lille, Torino, AC Milan and an unnamed Premier League club. Paris Saint-Germain, Wolves and Nice have also been linked.

Three signings needed

Chelsea need to make three attacking signings before the end of the January transfer window.

That’s according to former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, who claims Frank Lampard should sign Krzysztof Piatek, Dries Mertens and Hakim Ziyech.

ESPN FC pundit Hislop was given a list of eight players who have been linked with a move to Chelsea and his task was to pick the three the Blues should attempt to sign.

Hislop says Piatek would ease the burden on and provide competition for Tammy Abraham, Mertens for his directness and Ziyech create space for attacking players.

Chiefs hold meeting

Chelsea are currently holding talks with Napoli over the potential signing of Dries Mertens, reports in Italy have claimed.

The Belgian is out of contract this summer and is therefore free to speak with others clubs regarding his future.

According to Sky Italia, Chelsea are trying to convince Napoli to let them sign the player this month, as opposed to the summer.

Mertens has made it clear that he will not be signing a new contract with the Italian club as he looks to seal a move to the Premier League.

Lampard vs Abramovich

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will not have as good a relationship with owner Roman Abramovich as he did when he was a player, reckons former Blues manager Glenn Hoddle.

“I think the relationship with Abramovich when he was playing was very good,” Hoddle told Premier League Productions.

“I’m not so sure it’s at that level at the moment and I think that’s where Frank’s got a slight problem with the board.

“It was obviously changed with Abramovich’s situation, the scenario’s changed obviously, not being able to come into the country and all these things have made Chelsea a different club to what it was possibly two seasons ago.”
